Camera Use

In class today we discussed the use of our tablet's camera. I think that there are many possibilities in which the camera, video camera, and web cam can all be used to expand our knowledge of the benefits that the tablets can bring to us.

1. Taking pictures of assignments and notes- This would not only allow us to study our class work straight from the tablet, but also save an electronic copy of our work that could get lost.

2. Recording lessons- Having the capability to keep a digital copy of the daily lesson would be INCREDIBLY helpful! We could study the lesson over and over to completely clarify any missed information. Also the lessons could be easily Emailed to any of our classmates who may have missed a day of school.

3. Year Book- Throughout the school year we could have taken pictures of activities and school events that could later be used in our Year Book.

4. Graphics for written reports and presentations/ student portfolio.

5. Take photos on field trips, to aid in writing about them later.

6. E-mail class updates to parents, with attached photos.

7. Face to Face web cam chat discussions.

Exploring Applications

Mrs. Teitelman asked me what my definition of a Successful App.
Well... I think a Successful Application should be defined as... KAHN ACADEMY!

Kahn Academy provides a world class education to anyone, anywhere. This app has already supplied me with new information and helped me understand a variety of problems with my schoolwork. Kahn Academy completely cleared my misunderstandings in Algebra 2 and personally, I think it helped me ace my test last week! This is a great tool and everybody should take advantage of it!

Galaxy Tab Performance

Perhaps the best part about the Tab is that you don't have to worry about any sense of sluggish performance. The entire experience is snappy, and it kept up with me even when I had four or five applications open. Some apps and videos within the browser took a few seconds to appear and did slow down the general browsing experience, but once I was able to hit the play button they ran smoothly.

Also another incredible aspect is the display of the screen. The extremely bright and colorful screen appears unbelievably crisp. Additionally, the capacitive screen is extremely responsive but not "too touchy."

Aubrey Humphrey Galaxy Tablet Day 1

After spending a few days with my Galaxy Tab, I can confidently say it's the best Android tablet on the market. Now, that's not saying much given the state of the Android competition, but I can also assuredly say that the Tab is the first true competitor to Apple's iPad. Its crisp display, compact form, touch-friendly software and dual cameras undoubtedly have what it takes to win over the average tablet seeker. However even with the many features and capabilities, I have still encountered some problems. The apps that have been "approved" have not been "100% successful." Using our schools WIFI internet in replacement of the blazing 3g speeds is like eating cereal with a sirloin steak sitting right next to you. Its very difficult to find a way how to accomplish your educational restrictions and how to make it happen with an extremely strict filter. A variety of problems have held us back from flowing through the fluent process. Despite the problems caused by the filters, I still believe that the tablet project will continue to expand my mind and allow me to explore the combination of portable tablet devices in the schoolwork and in the my daily workflow.
